PLIDA stands for ‘Progetto lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri’ and it is an internationally recognised Italian language certification.

The Dante Alighieri Society of WA in Perth is the only official examination center of the Società Dante Alighieri in Western Australia and provides the opportunity of taking PLIDA exams in order to obtain a PLIDA certificate.

The PLIDA certificates attest proficiency in Italian as a foreign language on a 6-level scale according to the parameters established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).

The examination consists of four tests that verify the candidate’s competence in the four fundamental areas of linguistic skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

PLIDA exams are available at our examination center to officially certify all levels of language competency.
Why take the PLIDA exam?
  • to obtain Italian Citizenship by marriage (required level B1)
  • to obtain an Italian Permit of Stay (required level A2)
  • to study at Italian universities
  • to officially prove your language proficiency on your resume
Exam eligibility

Any learner of Italian as a second language can sit the examination, to demonstrate their level of proficiency.
